Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about our Treats

Our treat flavours change season-to-season just as the local produce does. Not everything is grown all year round, (despite what you can buy available in the supermarkets all year round) We absolutely love mixing up our flavours and using different, fresh ingredients from farmers when they are grown in their correct season. This means that every few months there are a different selection of flavours to choose from!

We do our very best to source as much of our ingredients directly from local farmers and small businesses.

Almost 100% of our ingredients are sourced directly from farmers and small businesses around the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, iff an ingredient is not grown in the Fleurieu I purchase it from another South Australian farmer or small business.

·  Our passion for supporting local farmers and businesses.

·  We know exactly where the ingredients are coming from and their quality.

·  All of our packaging is certified home compostable.

·  For additional peace of mind we also consult with a canine nutritionist for each of our recipes

Barkers Dozen Packs – these are our mini biscuit packs. A Barkers Dozen pack contains 13 (5cm x 2cm) mini bone shaped biscuits.

6 Packs – these are our larger biscuit packs. A 6 Pack contains 6 (8.5cm x 4.5cm) larger bone shaped biscuits.

Singles – contains 1 (8.5cm x 4.5cm) of the larger bone shaped biscuits.

Dehydrated Meats – these are our dried meat treat range. These are available in a variety of sizes. See them here.

I’m so glad you asked!

There is a reason (many reasons, actually) we are so passionate about sourcing our ingredients from farmers in the Fleurieu Peninsula, the region of Adelaide where we live and absolutely love.

-   Less food miles – not flown in from overseas or bought from big chain supermarkets. The majority of the ingredients are literally freshly harvested just a few days before they reach our hands and only travel a very small amount of km’s to reach us. Sometimes we even go directly to the farm to collect the goods.

-  Fresh, healthy, nutrient rich foods. We use a mixture of certified organic ingredients, pesticide free ingredients and ingredients that are grown using organic methods.

-  Supporting fellow locals and families as much as possible by purchasing ingredients and supplies including our paper, ink, printing, kitchen equipment, stationery etc direct from their businesses.

-   And not to mention our planet friendly packaging that is certified home compostable including ink.

Your support and purchase from our business, whether that be through our online store, at markets around Adelaide or from our stockists, is important and means so much to us.

A combination of the above personally allows me and Bone Appetit Barkery to express and share my passion for sustainability and the importance of supporting locally owned businesses around me with others just like you 😊

Every purchase gets us closer and closer to needing restock ingredients and supplies, which means your purchase gets closer and closer to supporting more and more local small businesses and farmers, allowing us to be able to produce more treats to be enjoyed!
